Constructed between 1679 and 1680 with funds from the Riga City Council and designed by R. Bindenšū, this stone church has a storied history, having endured multiple fires. It is situated near a hospital built in the 1930s, separated by an old defensive moat originally dug for a Livonian castle. In the churchyard, there stands a monument, designed by architect P. Kundziņš in 1923, honoring the local heroes who fell during the Latvian Liberation Battles from 1914-1920. This monument was unveiled with the presence of Latvia's President, Jānis Čakste. There is plenty of parking available for visitors and tourists adjacent to the church, as well as tourist bus parking available nearby. Just walking distance from the Limbaži Tourist and Information Center as well as the Limbaži Museum and other historic locations.
